WHITLEY WARD COUNCILLOR and MAYOR OF READING
Dr Alice Mpofu-Coles has been a Labour and Co-op Party Local Government Councillor for Whitley Ward since 2021. She chaired the Adult Social Care, Children’s Services and Education Committee (ACE) in 2022, 2023 and 2024 and currently sits on this committee, the Personnel Committee, and the Health and Wellbeing Board. She was a committee member of the Housing, Neighbourhood and Leisure and Standing Advisory Council [on] Religious Education (SACRE) in 2021. She is a member of the Fabian Society and Fabian Women’s Network UK. She was elected as Deputy Mayor of Reading 2024-2025 and as Mayor of Reading on 21st May, 2025, and the first female black Mayor in the town.
